The United States and Overseas Territories

You are a Hawaiian living on Maui, one of the Hawaiian Islands, in 1890. Your parents work in a sugar mill owned by American planters. Although the mill supplies jobs, you don’t trust the sugar planters. They have already made your king sign a treaty that gives them a lot of power in the islands. You are afraid they will take over the government.

    Rubaiya 812 - If the planters took over my island i will have a war with them, and get my island and it is not their property. First of all i will kill them and i will take over their company and see how they feel!!! and if they win the war which they wont, because i will have the best army ever.

    The planter are gaining power so why just do strikes and riots like the time during the industrial period that would also get people to join in on your side to get the situation under control without tooo much violence.

    if the planters took over the island i would move out of my island,which is a very safe option or maybe start a real war.I would fight back for my own country and the place ive lived in.One reason why i said that i would move is because i might be weaker then the planters.the reason why i would start a WAR is because i do care about my OWN land

    Greetings fellow classmates, you asked for my response and here it is.

    First things first, there's no such thing as "They take over my island", If I will own an island, then I will protect the island, put up wars to keep the island, and god knows what else. However, If "they did" , then I will try to manipulate them, by saying something like "I will give you the land without any wars. We can work for the land together without any problems and make the best out of it." I that doesn't work, I will constantly fight, If fighting didn't work out, then I will just give up, it's not the end of the world. I will move to another island.

    If the planters took over my island I would try to make a deal or something with them or like try to talk it out, if that didnt work out I would've fought for my island if it really meant something to me. But like war and violence isn't the solution, so it might not even solve the problem but might aswell give it a try. ashleyb

    If farmers took over my island, i would go to the king and tell him about what's happening and ask him if he could end the treaty and send the Americans back home. In case he refuses to do that,i might either leave the island and find somewhere else to live or just ignore them and live sadly in the island that's taken over by Americans.

    If the planters took over my island, I would consider a peace conversaion with them at first. Then, if it does not work, I would destroy the treaty that singed between our king and the whites. Next, I would send spies that give me information about them while I design a long-term war plan of fighting back my land.

    Shahria 814- If the planters took over the island, I would declare war and i would want to make a treaty. I would bring up people in this situation. If the police dont take care of it, I would take matter with my own hands. I would give them warnings before all this of course, because then it would be just plain cruel.

    If the sugar planters are going to take over my island , first I will tell the government what going to happen so they can prepare if it really going to happen . Next I will tell the king so he can change the amount of powers the planters had or else we are going under the control of the planters . I also going to team up with other protesters so we can beat the planters down . If the following above does not work , we will start a war to stop them from taking the government powers

    If the planter take over the island I would try to send a letter to the king and telling him that our island was been taken over. Also get spies to get the evidences that the planter are taking over the island. Give the evidences to the king and get support from other countries and get our island back.

      I agree with you because you have worked so hard to grow the stuff and now planters want to take over your land which is very angry because you worked hard and now they just want it and you will not able to make money so you should convince other to declare war with them to gain your land back , and the winning side will take control of the land.

    If the planters want to take over the island then I will choose to protect this island from the planters that will come to take the island I will try to ask the goverment for backup if this dont work I will then have to have a meeting to get ideas of what should we do to get the planters off this island if that dont work then we can set traps to make them sceard so that they will neaver come back to this island but it all of this dont work I will have to use the last resort which is to fight to get them off this island.

    I would protest and strike. These methods are peaceful but they still get the point across. Starting a war or rioting will just cause blood shed. Also the government is omnipotent compared to me so having more people on my side will dwindle the power of the government.

    If they will take over my land, I would do nothing, or try to.I have no power to go against them. They're about to take the king down.Same thing Americans did to Native Americans.Stay on their land for a while, and say" nope, your land is ours" If they will try to go against US, it will end with war, and no one wants it.So the best way to be puppy, and hope for the best.

If it goes out of hand and they completely ignore our protests, than I would make the group grow bigger and try to call other countries for help. Along with this, I would send a letter to the King.
